Underwear and the economy?

leave a comment »

In “oh, really?” news, one of our local TV stations has been teasing a story this morning that the state of your man’s underwear drawer may be an economic indicator.

Not having the patience to wait until the 6 p.m. news to see this story and blog about it for you, I searched the Internet and found an MSN Money story about the subject.

Basically it says what I’d guessed (even though I don’t have a man in my own life): women, if the man in your life is still wearing worn-out underwear because A. he won’t buy new ones or B. you won’t buy him any, then the economy is still in a recession. Because men don’t spend money on their (unseen) underwear when they don’t have money.

According to MSN Money, no less an economist than Alan Greenspan endorses this tighty-whitey, tighty-wallet theory.
