What's So Funny About Unemployment?

A funny little unemployment blog for your (un) enjoyment

Help Haiti

I may be jobless and broke. However, I’ve often thought over the last year that even as an unemployed American, I do have a lot: an apartment, a car, Internet and phone service, unemployment insurance … the list goes on.

As I wrote this, I watched the 11 o’clock news with the latest updates on the Haitian earthquake.

Even before Tuesday, Haiti was a very poor country. How poor? So poor, women sold and children ate dirt cookies to survive because inflation made food expensive.

Now Port au Prince is in ruins. Today I read predictions that it may take ten years for Haiti to rebuild.

All this is to say that even if you’re unemployed, please, give whatever you can to the American Red Cross International Response Fund or another Haitian relief effort. And if you can’t afford to give anything, then keep the people of Haiti in your thoughts and prayers.
