How to leave your job with class

Tonight, after the “Hope for Haiti” telethon and the news, I decided to watch the last “Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.” I admit I usually either watched David Letterman or “Seinfeld” reruns or went to bed. However, for the last week or so, I’ve been watching Coco.

Despite a few nervous  jokes, Conan went out with class and dignity. During his closing remarks, he said between Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with Conan O’Brien and seven months of the Tonight Show, he’d spent over 20 years at NBC. And he wanted to thank NBC.

I was especially impressed by these words: “Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.”

Now there’s an exit statement.
